About

Welcome to 'Unmasterchef'

My name is Chris Edwards and I'm a Broadcast Journalism student at Staffordshire University.

I am blogging as part of a web-based assessment and I wanted to blog about something which would benefit me and hopefully entertain others along the way.

I have a variety of hobbies and interests but one particular interest of mine is food. You may ask 'why blog about food?' Well, like most of us I'm a big fan of food and, although I'm no scientist, I think cooking is fairly useful when it comes down to keeping well and healthy. My problem is that I can't cook.

Through the media we have access to all these wonderfully creative chefs like Nigella Lawson and Gordon Ramsey but the fundamental difference between me and these culinary geniuses is that they know their way around a kitchen. So I'd like to learn.

Obviously lessons from a top chef would be fantastic but I'm nothing if not realistic so there can only be one teacher for me; someone who loves me and who'd do anything for me but won't charge me, it can only be my Mum (she's probably the only one who'd tolerate me).

As it stands I'm a culinary disaster and it's time to turn that around... it's going to be a challenge and this blog is going to document my journey from master disaster to master chef.

Enjoy the lessons, and various other kitchen observations and antics which will inevitably crop up over the next couple of months (depending heavily on how we get on). In the immortal words of Delia "let's be having you" - follow my journey and get involved, you never know you might learn something.

Who knows, maybe one day I'll make it on to the tele, like the late great Fanny Craddock, cooking and presenting in a maverick anti-Nigella sort of way.

Ready, Steady...

Oh, did I mention I'm a Broadcast Journalist, master of the tri-media... and I would encourage you to contact me at ew002592@student.staffs.ac.uk if you would like to know more about me or my work.
